My Accomplishments

• Elected President of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association, representing 1.3 million public school learners and 34 public school boards and school authorities.

• Strengthened special education through 7 years’ leadership on the Special Education Advisory Committee—Waterloo Region’s services for gifted and special needs student are now among the best province-wide.

• Enhanced students’ environmental stewardship through the “Eco Schools” program—there are 47 “Eco Schools” in the Waterloo Board, involving thousands of kids, teachers, and families in making our local environments greener.

• Advocated for raising the bar on early childhood education through 6 years as coordinator of the Child Care Action Network .

• Improved services for new immigrant and refugee students—celebrated the opening of the Welcome Centre, improved assessments for our newest students.
