Our society’s future prosperity, health and success all begin with public education. The school system I am working for realizes the fullest potential of every learner. Building on Governor General David Johnston’s Knowledge Capital Goals (go to http://www.wrvitalsigns.ca/knowledgec ), I have set these key goals for the next four years:
- Engage our community and school board to provide education that feeds a culture of continuous learning, innovation and achievement.
- Improve collaboration and planning between the school board and municipal partners—to build stronger, healthier communities.
- Work collaboratively with all levels of government to increase the number of child care programs and spaces in our schools.
- Implement data driven decision making to improve accountability and raise quality and standards throughout the Board.
- Create healthier kids through nutritional learning, better breakfast programs, and enhanced physical education.
- Model leadership in schools and deal effectively with bullying.
- Link schools with community and mental health services—making sure that troubled kids get the help they need to stay in school and succeed.
- Offer outstanding support for immigrant students through ESL and parent engagement—to ensure immigrant childrens’ success for the long term.
